We would like to thank all residents who responded to the recent bus consultation.
City of York Council recently undertook a review and public consultation on bus subsidies, including for the number 20. The review was carried out after the council was forced to make nearly £6 million of savings following cuts by the Government. The number 20 is one of the most expensive routes costing nearly £200,000 of a total subsidy budget of £850,000. During the consultation a number of residents and your Councillors raised concerns about the loss of this bus and in particular the prospect of losing the link between Huntington and New Earswick and Monks Cross / Vangarde. We are therefore pleased that it was agreed that a service should continue as an approximately hourly service between Rawcliffe, Clifton Moor, Haxby, Huntington and Monks Cross. We hope that residents continue to use the new service as that will help to secure its future in the long term, without requiring subsidy from the Council.
